A woman’s murdered at the hands
Of one whose been their intimate partner
But where love was – now violence stands
How do we change the ending
How do we save women’s lives
So many times men are the Killers
If nothing’s done this violence thrives
Men of Goodwill must work together
When nothing’s done this violence thrives
How many women here in Australia
Live lives of fear and of despair
Not knowing how their partners will treat them
Not knowing safety anywhere

Every four days we hear the sad news.
Another woman’s murdered in partner abuse
Once they were lovers but now she is dead
Murdered by the man who used to share her bed
How do we make this violence end
How to stop men murdering their once best friend
Come together, people discuss the ways that we can banish partner violence from our community
Many people search for the love of their life.
Dreaming they’ll be happy as husband and wife
But for many women, this dream is snatched away
Life becomes a nightmare for them every day
Many women try to escape from this curse
Fearing for their lives as the violence gets worse
But their greatest fear is that one day he’ll be there
And nothing that they do can take away this despair.
So many women feel alone, Controlled by one so close
Their daily goal - avoid the wrath of one they love the most
So many women feel despair, afraid of one so close
Instead of love they live in fear of one they loved the most
So many women lose their lives, they’re killed by one so close
They’re cruelly murdered at the hands of one they loved the most
How can this violence still exist, there’s something must be done
How can we fight this hidden curse - It’s up to everyone
So many women crying out, “For God’s sake help us please”
“For God’s sake make this nightmare end that we can live in peace”
Now have you seen a Red Bench around they’ve been popping up in parks and streets
Just sitting there all by themselves inviting you to come have a seat
On the bench there is a plaque and as you read it in silence
It says “Let’s change the ending, Let’s stop Domestic Violence”
The Red Bench in these public areas aims to help the community
To be aware of the curse of violence that’s happening in many families
Come! Come! Let’s come together and start a new conversation
Family violence is a curse and it’s happening across the nation.
So many deaths by Family violence are thought to be preventable
The tragic outcomes for so many do not have to be inevitable.
Let’s come together around the Red Bench and dare to imagine
How a society without this violence can start to be fashioned
Red Benches are silent sentinels that call us to remember
That we can change the ending for so many when we work together
Come! Come! Let’s come together and start a new conversation

She lies upon the floor without the strength to raise her head
Her body racked with pain her face a mess from tears she’s shed

How fearful many women are of one whose love they shared
How desperate for someone reassuring that they cared
They need an open door sometimes to help them stay alive
They and their children need your help if they hope to survive

We get along, it seems OK. Things are all right for another day
But like before he begins to yell, I’m heading towards another hell

Family violence is a curse in our community

And when he hit me, and pushed me around
At least the children were all safe and sound.
If I left, and something happened to me then how would the children cope at all?
They’re helpless – That’s why were still home.

But you know that financially he has always controlled me
I have nothing behind me – he owns it all
How would I pay - for rent and for food
And if I begged him he’d just laugh and be rude.
So tell me – where would we get the money to afford to live all on our own?

But he often has threatened that if I ever left him
He would kill all our children and then kill me
Those courtroom papers won’t stop a crazed man
He’d just keep searching again and again
And each day – I’d be looking o’er my shoulder till one day he would be there

A sower went out to sow some seeds

A Great Dad
There once was a man who had two sons
And the younger one said I want to have some fun
He went to his Father and said give me my dough
It’s off to the world I’m going to go
He goes on a spree and he spends spends spends
And he has lots of parties and a lot of friends
But the money ran out and the friends did too
And he said what am I now going to do
I’m feeding pigs, I have no food

It’s Christmas Time Again
It’s Christmas time again it’s the time we love most every year
The festive season when we give thanks for our loved ones so dear
A time of coloured lights and Christmas trees, a time of holidays and joy
A time of gathering of families, and lots of presents to be shared oh boy
It’s Christmas time again we remember the manger and the star
The town of Bethlehem and the couple who travelled so far
But they can’t find a place to rest a while except a stable filled with straw
And there that night is born a baby child the King of kings is born among the poor
The shepherds in the fields saw the lights and they heard the angels say
God’s glory is revealed yes a saviour is born for you this day
And so they visited this little boy they came to be young Jesus’ friends
And wise men from the East to show their joy gave gifts of gold and myrrh and frankincense

Amid the Christmas cheer we find ways to respond to His love

A young man ran to Jesus and went down on his knee
Good master can you tell me how to live eternally
Jesus said just follow the commands of God above
But he said to me something more to thank God for his love
So Jesus looked within this man and this is what he saw
Someone who was very good and wanted to do more
He saw his strengths and weaknesses and where hid life could grow
And Jesus truly loved this man (loved this man) and let his Loving show
So Jesus said there’s something I know that you can do
Your riches and possessions are too worrying for you
If you can sell the things you own and give all to the poor
And follow me you’ll find that you will be happy ever more
So Jesus looked within this man and this is what he saw

The young man wasn’t ready for freedom from his bond
But I’m sure that God gives us lots of chances to respond
So if we come to Jesus and we ask him how to grow
He’ll look at us and love us and he’ll gently let us know

A Tax collector and a Pharisee
Jesus told a story to his friends one day about two men who went to the temple to pray
The man were different as different can be, a tax collector and a Pharisee
(a tax collector and a Pharisee)
The Pharisee was standing in the Temple so proud and said this prayer to himself out loud
I think you God I’m not like the rest and this tax collector here I do detest
(and this tax collector here he does detest)
I’m an honest man and I’ve been fasting twice a week and I’m not unjust it’s the truth I speak
To be good and righteous is my sole intent and God knows who give him back 10%
(and God knows he gives him back 10%)
The tax collector didn’t even raise his head he stayed down the back and to God he said
O God be merciful to me I pray I’m a sinner and I need your help every day
(he’s a sinner and he needs your help every day)
Now the tax collector he went home at rights with God and the Pharisee didn’t
You may think that’s odd
But those who exalt themselves are sure to fall while the humble person God will make stand tall

Come Back Zak
Zaccheus was a small man who didn’t spread much pax
He made everyone unhappy by collecting too much tax
The people were afraid of the Romans so they paid
But that all changed when Jesus came to town
Come back Zak come down from the tree, You see we are going to have tea
O Lord I’ve been sinning but now I’m beginning to live as I should * * * I’ll be good
The people knew that Jesus was kind and good and strong
So when he came to town everybody came along
Zaccheus being small couldn’t see anything at all
So he ran ahead and climbed up in a tree
When Jesus saw Zaccheus so high up in the tree
He smiled and said Zaccheus come and have some tea with me
And straight away Zak knew that Jesus loved him to
and from that day he was a different man
Some people were complaining that Jesus ate with zak
But everybody smiled when he paid all their money back
And Jesus turned to him and he said with a great big grin

The angel Gabriel went to Mary's place. He went down on his knees and said, "Hail Mary full of grace. God has chosen you to give our Savior birth. And if you say Amen there'll be the greatest peace on earth."
Mary was troubled by all she’d heard and seen. And she wondered what the words the angel said could mean. And so she said, "How can this possibly be true? I am just a young girl and I won't know what to do."
The angel Gabriel stated in reply, "The power of God Almighty will come down on you from high. And Mary listen here, I'll give this news to you. Your relative Elizabeth will have a baby too."
Mary said, "I am the handmaid of the Lord. Let these things be done to me according to your word."
After the angel left her, Mary hurried off to see Elizabeth her cousin who lived in the hill country. When Mary gave her greeting, Elizabeth with gladness cried, "Blessed are you among women, and blessed is your child inside." "Why should this be happening? Mary can this be? You're the mother of my Lord, yet you come to visit me." Elizabeth then told her that her baby also knew. Inside she felt him jumping... he must be so happy too.
My heart praises God and my soul does rejoice. From now on all people will lift up their voice. And call me so happy for all the great things, that God with great mercy and kindness brings. Yes, God's name is holy, and from day to day, God shows such great mercy to all those who pray. God scatters the mighty and brings down great kings. The hungry and lowly are filled with good things. God keeps every promise that ever was made, with kindness to Israel his servant displayed. Remembering the mercy he showed Abraham, and all his descendants forever. Amen.
Joseph and Mary were engaged to be, when Mary told him all about the baby. Joseph would always do what was the best, and he thought God had given him a test to prove his love for God above. He must leave her free to answer the call, on her own.
But while he thought of this he had a dream. And there God's angel said, "It's not as it seems. It's through God's Spirit Mary has conceived." And what he said next made Joe really relieved. "Just as the new God needed him to. As a son of David, Joseph would give Jesus his name."
Now all this happened that the words would come true. Although the prophets said God's going to do. The virgin has a son, Emmanuel. When Joseph woke he ran to Mary to tell, that soon they'd be married. Yes, they both were called to give the world God's own Son.
At that time the emperor ordered that a census be taken throughout the Roman Empire. Everyone went to their own town to register. So Joseph went from Nazareth to register in Bethlehem because he was descended from David the King. And when Joseph went to Bethlehem to register, Mary went with him because they were betrothed.
Mary was pregnant, and while there in Bethlehem, she had a little baby and wrapped him in clothes swaddling and laid him in a manger, there was no other room.
Now there were some shepherds near them in the country, tending the night by looking after their sheep. Suddenly an angel appeared to them in glory and said, "Do not be fearful. I bring you news of great joy. Tonight is born for you a Savior, Christ the Lord."
"And this news will prove it: You will find a baby wrapped in clothes swaddling in a manger asleep." Suddenly the heavens filled with angels singing, "To God be given glory in all the highest heavens, and peace on earth to everyone with whom God is pleased."
So they hurried off and found Joseph and Mary, and saw the baby in the manger asleep. All were amazed at all the things the shepherds said, and Mary listened closely and stored these words in her heart, and everyone praised God for all they had heard and seen.
Christ was born in Bethlehem at the time when Herod was King. Soon some men who studied the heavens came down from the east and said: "Where is the baby born to be King? We saw his star so brightly rising, and we have come with gifts to worship this little child, the newborn King."
Herod called the wise men to him, asking when the star was first seen. Then he sent them on to Bethlehem and this is what he said: "So now to your special search you may go, and when you find him let me know. So that I too may go and worship this little child, the newborn King."
So they went and followed the star, joyful that it now wasn't far. Then they saw it stopped right over the place where the baby was. Then they gave the child their special gifts. Gold and myrrh and frankincense. They were filled with joy to worship this little child, the newborn King.

Samuel came to visit Jesse’s Sons

Joseph and Mary were engaged to be,

Annunciation
The angel Gabriel went to Mary’s place.
He went down on his knees and said, “Hail Mary, full of grace.
God has chosen you to give our Saviour birth,
And if you say ‘Amen’, there’ll be the greatest peace on earth”.
Mary was troubled by all she’d heard and seen,
And she wondered what the words the angel said could mean.
And so she said, “How can this possibly be true?
I am just a young girl and I won’t know what to do”.

“The power of God Almighty will come down on you from high.

After the angel left her, Mary hurried off to see Elizabeth, her cousin, Who lived in the hill country.

Christmas Story
At that time the Emperor ordered a census Be taken throughout the Roman Empire. Everyone went to their own town to register So Joseph went from Nazareth to register in Bethlehem Because he was descended from David the King.
And when Joseph went to Bethlehem to register Mary went with him because they were betrothed. Mary was pregnant and while there in Bethlehem She had a little baby and wrapped him in clothes swaddling And laid him in a manger; there was no other room.
Now there were some shepherds near them in the country Spending the night by looking after their sheep. Suddenly an angel appeared to them in glory And said, “Do not be fearful; I bring you news of great joy. Tonight is born for you a Saviour, Christ the Lord.
And this news will prove it: you will find a baby Wrapped in clothes swaddling, in a manger asleep”. Suddenly the heavens filled with angels singing, “To God be given glory in all the highest heavens And peace on earth to everyone with whom God is pleased”.
So they hurried off and found Joseph and Mary And saw the baby in the manger asleep. All were amazed at all the things that shepherds said And Mary listened closely and stored these words in her heart And everyone praised God for all they had heard and seen.

Our God always hears the cry of the poor”
And to many people who need to be fed

WHERE ARE THE PROPHETS
Isaiah Jeremiah Ezekiel
Were prophets who spoke the Word of God well
Amos Elijah Joel and Hosea,
These were the prophets of yesterday
Where are the prophets for today.
1. A prophet is one who speaks God’s word
Who stands up and lets their voice be heard
And even when other folk don’t agree
This is the challenge for you and for me.
2. A prophet stand up for justice sake
The bonds of oppression they try to break
And share their vision of equality
This is the challenge for you and for me.
3. A prophet tells us God hears the cry
Of the people who suffer of the people who die
And God will save the just and set them free
With the help of prophets like you, and like me.

THE PROPHETS OF OUR GOD
The Prophets of our God are not so hard to tell.
‘Cause they’ve got big ears and they’ve got big
eyes and they’ve got big mouths as well!
1. Firstly they’ve got big ears ‘cause they listen to
the cries. Of the sad and lonely in the world that
many folk despise. And as they’re listening they
hear God’s word decree. That in so often as you
did this to others you did these things to me.
2. Next they have have got big eyes ‘cause they see
in many ways. How there’s lots of people in the
world who suffer every day. And with their eyes
they see that God is truly there. In every act of
kindness and sharing when people show they care.
3. Lastly they’ve got big mouths so to make sure
they are heard. As they challenge people in the
world by speaking God’s own Word. And hear
them challenge us to seek for God’s reward.
And answer the challenge to become a prophet and
prepare the Way of the Lord
WITNESSES TO THE GOOD NEWS
1.Witnesses to the Good News living life so free
Bearers of God’s compassion, loving so tenderly
Filled with the Spirit of Jesus we prepare his way
Witnesses to the Good News living love each day.
2.Witnesses to the Good News God’s great love imparts
Freedom for those in prison, healing for broken hearts
Led by the Spirit of Jesus, Hope for those oppressed
Witnesses to the Good News, Life so truly blest.

Sharing the gifts we’re given practising kindly deeds

THE EMPTY CRIB
Where is the baby? The crib is cold and bare!
Where is Lord Jesus, why is he not there?
Where can we find him?
Where can Jesus be?
“Look for the little ones,
thats where you’ll find me!”
1. Many people have empty lives,
Crying in sadness, sighing lonely sighs
During this Advent we can try to be
People of grace and hospitality.
2. We can bring into people’s hearts
All of the hope that Jesus’ love imparts
During this Christmas let our presents be
Kindness and love and generosity.
TOGETHER
One day God’s messenger said to Mary “Behold
the Lord God is calling you. God wants to save his
beloved people and this is what he now asks of you
Believe God’s Spirit will come upon you to bear
for people God’s only Son. Now will you offer your
life for others?” and Mary said “Let your will be
done!”
We’ll walk together and talk together we’ll help
each other to work and grow.
We’ll strive together alive together as on the
journey of life we go.
We’ll learn together and yearn together to build a
world that is just and free.
We’ll praise together all days together our lives a
witness for all to see, We’ll follow Christ through
eternity.
We too are chosen to be like Mary and bear for
others God’s only Son
We too are challenged in faith like Mary to say
“Amen let your will be done”
To bring the message of love for others by lives of
service and unity
And as we witness the love of Jesus we know God’s
Spirit will make us free.
MY FRIEND THE FROG
One day as I walked to the House of God
I saw something that was very odd
There outside the church upon a log
Was sitting a very religious frog.
I knew he was religious for you see
He hopped right into church in front of me
I took my seat and I began to smile
‘Cause my friend the frog was hopping down the aisle.
He went to the front and he took his seat
Right next door to some children’s feet
Then to the organ he hopped along
Because he wanted to join our song.
I asked him did he like to pray
And how much joy to him did it bring
He said he sings to God each day
Because he finds it – Riveting!

All creation likes to pray and sing
